Shinjuku Station Breakfast Revolution|Tokyo BERG

新宿駅早餐革命|東京 BERG

Just a one-minute walk from Shinjuku Station, this small shop sees many customers choosing to stand and eat before heading to work. As a tourist, I'd say it's a great place with a real sense of local life. Of course, when you're not the one rushing to work, it's easy to be nonchalant about it. BERG, originally a coffee shop in 1970, switched to fast food in the 1990s. In 2007, facing eviction, it managed to secure its continued operation at the original location thanks to a petition signed by many customers. This small "revolution" was even documented in the book "Shinjuku Station's Last Small Shop: BERG."
